During the pandemic, my roommate and i would convene every night to discuss the news of the day. As a nod to the inconclusiveness of the horrors unfolding before us, we would end most conversations with a Billy Ray Cyrus quote:
Over the years, the phrase “much to think about” has become my shorthand for the complexities borne of living and dying in late stage empire.
It is a meditation on the inconclusiveness of the mounting evidence that I discover in whichever research hole I happen to fall into.
